Zero Penny!

this weekend, evan and grady had their parents bring them up to grandma-papa's house for a weekend of adventure!
papa had a grand plan for building and launching model rockets! well, evan and i made our first rocket friday night. saturday the weatherman just did not cooperate! it was cold, rainy, and very windy! standing there shivering in the field at LCCC, the launch safety officer decided to scrub the mission for the day! so off we went!

our usual visit to the waterfalls for a little exploring and picture taking.

there are some things that you can only do at grandma and papa's house! while we were at the falls, we watched several trains going by in both directions. as the adventure developed, we ended up heading down the road where the main rail line runs thru town. there are at least 6 tracks! no waiting!
we parked the car off the road and waited for the bells and lights to start ringing and blinking before the arms came down across the road to hold traffic. we would get out of the car and stand on the side of the tracks waving to the trains as they passed bye! what excitement, noise, wind, and power! we got a lot of train headlight flashing, horn tooting and waves from the crews!
well, there are somethings that papa just has to teach you (how to do correctly and safely!)
did you ever put a penny on the railroad tracks for an engine to squish?
well, we put several on the track for the next train, stood back, waved and waited!
we saw the flattened pennies squirt out as the train hit them. after the train passed, we searched and found one of the squished shinney pennies! even understood what happened and called it his "zero penny"!

Back Yard!

here's an example that you don't have to travel to the far side of the world to find things that make you go "WHAT THE .......!"
stopped at the corner at a traffic signal and a "Driver's Ed" car pulls up beside us!
An adult driving, one passenger in the front seat, one in the back......
all three eating!

never mind the old school "10 & 2"! there is a proper way to hold a burger, drive and text at the same time. (click on picture to enlarge!)

if kids don't learn the right way to drive wrong, how can we expect them to learn on their own? HMMMMMMMMMM
don't forget the scalding hot coffee latte between your legs!
