EscalatADVENTURE!

Just another example of the many sizes and shapes that adventures can come in!

Earlier this summer on one of our cleveland adventures, evan and i like to ride the train! we would go to the brookpark park and ride and take the RTA downtown. the cheapest entertainment for $3.75 you can have! ride the train downtown to tower city and explore the parks and public fountains downtown! all of those books in the library! ride a bus, take a train, walk down to the science center and take the blue line back to the red line and back to brookpark park and ride! well, the one time we went to the airport where the redline terminates and this opened up a whole new world of adventures! everywhere we went downtown, there were up and down escalators... but evan was thrilled with the sideways escalators! who ever knew! and of course papa has to teach the boys that sometimes it's okay to do things differently and expand the box that they live in! (as long as nobody gets hurt or in danger!)

i mean, if no one else is coming, why can't you go the "wrong" way on the belt? or sideways even! Life has too many useless rules as it is!

this adventure has become a 24/7 opportunity now! a trip to grandma/papa's house now must include an adventure to the escaltors! and now we have figured out that you can park at the airport for $3.00 for 1 hour ride the escalators and elevators (LL)and in general make nuisances of ourselves. we even know where the quickest restrooms to get to are at!

so far, evan, isaiah, and grady have made the trip!(literally! coming off of the moving belt!)
Grady's first experience was funny! that first step off of the edge onto the moving belt is one of trust! and the feeling of moving while your little legs are not does take some getting used to! but, he did it!

Now we have to get him used to not stopping at the end of the belt! especially with papa bearing down right behind him!!!!!

Birthday Traditions!

Boys - Fire - Fun!

Coming from a large extended family, when we were younger, birthday parties were happening all of the time - year 'round! They always included multiple cakes and a lot of singing and blowing out candles! well, everyone had to have a chance to blow out the candles and be sung to! by the time everyone had a chance, the top of the cake was full of dripped candle wax, candles burned down to the frosting and a shiny layer of spray spit!
we recently had a birthday a grandma/papa's house, i'm not saying whose! but the "boys" were in town for the occasion! and obviously we had to continue the tradition with some modification! we kept the fire and singing, but did cut down on the cake spit!

i mean, everybody has to have a turn! and sometimes more than one!

and sometimes when you're the youngest of the group, special allowances must be made to be sure that you get a turn too!

Adventures!

They come in all sizes, shapes, and varieties!
these files were to big to email, so this was the place to put them!

so this is a start!
were using the ever popular 8lb alley ball! we get 3 when we start because we just can't wait for the first ball to get back! and it's still a struggle. (Papa uses the lightest one he can get his sausage fingers into!)

this might just work out! so i'll add more about our adventures!

Here! let me show you how the big guys do it! with panace! when you're a pro like me you "fire and forget"!

and then there is your second shot! with your cousins support and encouragement too!

Now for the big one! thank heavens for youtube!

even though this is just my first time bowling, i want to bowl like the big guys! okay, maybe not! they both got tired of waiting for the pins to reset after the first ball and would start their second shot right away! believe me, the alley equipment was in no danger of being hit! i wish i was closer, because you could hear the holes in the ball as the air whistled across them! AND DON'T FORGET! we each had our own "bowling shoes"!

who knows, in a couple of years, Papa will introduce them to beer and pizza while midnight bowling too! (JUST KIDDING!)
